YouTubeで最初に投稿された動画（2005年4月23日）

BBCによるとちょうど10年前の今日（正確には4月23日）、jawedというユーザー名でYouTubeで最初の動画が投稿されたとのこと。投稿者はYouTube創立者の一人であるジョード・カリム（Jawed Karim）。

撮影者は、高校時代の友人のヤコフ・ラピツキー (Yakov Lapitsky) で、撮影場所は、カリフォルニア州サンディエゴのサンディエゴ動物園です。投稿時間は、2005年4月23日 20:27:12 (PDT)。

Ten years ago Jawed Karim uploaded the very first video to YouTube.
Titled 'me at the zoo' it lasts only 18 seconds and involves the YouTube co-founder standing in front of elephants at the zoo.

All right, so here we are in front of the, uh, elephants, and the cool thing about these guys is that, is that they have really, really, really long, um, trunks, and that's, that's cool, and that's pretty much all there is to say.

当時は

ごく一部で話題になっていて、投稿されている動画が怪しさいっぱいなのにGoogleが買収したよ…な感じでしたが、今や生活に欠かせないウェブサービスになってますね。
ちなみに私が初めてYouTubeに投稿したのは2009年8月でした。やっとAppleからiPhone 3GSが出て気軽に動画を撮影する環境が整ったのが大きい気がします。
